Why the need for M. Arch. Environmental Architecture?
The architectural profession is the cornerstone of the construction industry. This industry largely influences the built development, creating cities, infrastructure and homes. Architects, thus play a vital role in shaping the built environment. While the construction industry plays a major role in building homes for people, this industry is also one of the largest consumers of energy and natural resources. From excavation of stone for building materials to manufacturing steel and managing construction activity, this industry utilizes huge stores of energy and other natural resources. With this scenario as background, the emerging profession of architecture needs to reorient itself to meet the demands of newer and faster development and at the same time be sensitive to the needs and carrying capacity of the earth's natural environment.
The Masters in Environmental Architecture aspires to give the architects this niche education and skill sets that can help them design and build environmentally sensitive architecture
