About Our Certificate Courses

Gardening is an art which also requires technical know-how about various aspects related to plant material, hardscape techniques, horticulture techniques and space designing for various activities. This is a part time autonomous course by MKSSS's Dr. B N college of Architecture - BNCA, Pune, which offers a valuable opportunity for those who are fond of gardening, who want to develop their own garden and the ones who want to develop it as a hobby as well as a source of income by practicing these techniques.

Nursery owners, agriculturists, horticulture contractors, architects, interior designers who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge, people pursuing gardening as a hobby, professionals from any other background, and even housewives, who would like to know how to develop and maintain their own garden.

Certificate from Dr. B N College of Architecture for Women, will be awarded to the participant student at the end of each module, after successfully completing the respective contents. These courses are open only to female candidates. BNCA offers following courses,

1. Certificate Courses in 'Garden Horticulture and Maintenance
2. Garden Design and Development'

Objective of these certificate courses will be, to provide practical training as well as theoretical knowledge about garden development and maintenance to give an off-hand gardening experience through site visits and demonstrations to develop self employment opportunities.

The prospectus candidates may be housewives, professionals, officials in government and semi-government organizations short term. Medium of instruction will be English.

Minimum qualifications required is H.S.C or Equivalent examination passed.

Duration of the Courses for both the courses is 32 days. The schedule will be as follows,

Garden Horticulture and Maintenance           July to October

Garden Design and Development                  January to April

Timings for both the courses is as follows,

Saturdays:        3 pm to 6 pm               preferably for lectures

Sundays:          9 am to 12 pm             preferably for site visits, workshops, seminars, hands-on work

Frequently Asked Questions

Can one take up 2 courses or can they take up only one course?

Those who have absolutely no background of this field may join both courses: 'Garden Horticulture and Maintenance' and ' Garden Design and Development' to make their knowledge base complete. Those who have background like B. Sc. or M.sc in Agriculture, Botany, horticulture or who are professionals like architects, interior designers or those who run the nursery and who have base knowledge about plant material, garden material, methods of propagation etc. can directly take up the second course - ' Garden Design And Development'

Can those working in offices or practicing on their own do this course simultaneously?

The schedule of the course is organized in such a way that the course could be completed while you continue your main job or activities as it is a part time course run on weekends.
