Professional practice has always been in a demanding position because of the logical reasons like practicality and the economic investment of time and money. Academic world of Architecture at BNCA is always been looking for the new approaches in architecture. Considering this following courses are proposed,
M. Arch. in Digital Architecture:
In the 21st century, technological advancements has given a new turn to architecture which has brought diverse fields of biology, mathematics and nanotechnology together. As a result, from the past 15 years new spatial, structural concepts are developed inventing new architectural forms, new design process and 21st century architects. From digital conceptualization to digital fabrication, the tools, skills required for this process are different from the conventional methods.
The proposed Master Course in Digital Architecture aims at inventing architecture and not replicating it conventionally. New approaches in Digital Architecture are studied in terms of the various modules of the courses such as nano architecture, biodigitecture and algoarchitecture, interactive architecture, psychology and digital architecture and contextualization and digital architecture. Following digital tools are planned to integrate with this course,
- Parametric Software - Generative Component, Grasshopper, Paracloud, CATIA
- Scripting - VB script, Mel script, C++
- Digital Fabrication - CNC Machine, 3D printer, 3D scanner, Laser cutting machine.
- Subject related software- 'Mathematica' and 'Bio-designer'
M. Arch. in Urban Design:
Urban Design is the art and science of designing human settlements that has been practiced from the beginning of human history. It includes design process, demonstration and approach, from a city square, to large new developments, as well as renewal and revitalization of existing city fabric, to an entire human settlement where the client is the people at large, and not a single client.
The discipline of Urban Design looks at three-dimensional qualities, of the urban environment that surrounds us and forms our living habitat. Urban Designers engage themselves in multiple aspects of human settlements that require creative design inputs and strategic initiatives.
The proposed Master Course in Urban Design aims planning highly successful well-loved places that contribute to economic health, and vitality of the cities. Course also aspires to pioneer concepts for reinvestments in urban and contexts in developing and emerging economy such as India by integrating architecture, urban design and planning.
