Overview

 

Greetings and welcome to International Cell at BNCA!

BNCA International Cell was established in 1997 under the guidance and aegis of Principal, Dr. Anurag Kashyap.

The vision of BNCA is to gradually evolve into a center of international learning excellence that provides a value-based, high-quality, globally-oriented educational experience to our students. As part of this endeavor, to foster an academic education that is international in scope, International Cell Director, Prof. Shruti Joshi and team invite collaborations with several International Universities committed to high standards of professional preparation. The Icell office also serves as the nodal point for information and assistance to all International Students (Incoming / Outgoing) and International Guests.

The Objectives of the International Cell at BNCA are to –

  • Nurture a sense of cultural understanding and evolve global citizens that can bridge different societies with one’s knowledge and understanding.
  • Offer an array of foreign study options that can bring about a transformative academic experience
  • Give international exposure to our students for at least a window period of six months to directly experience architecture, urbanism, and other cultures gaining exposure to local-global and historical as well as contemporary aspects of architecture.
  • Encourage and welcome international students to study at BNCA and gain exposure to the diversely rich cultural heritage of India.
  • Promote student exchange programs and provide needed support / guidance for admission formalities
  • Invite eminent faculty from abroad
  • Initiate Joint Academic and Research programs with International Universities
  • To organize international study tours to bring alive the magnificence of modern architectural marvels & triumphant urban settlements around the globe that students can experience firsthand.

International Student Exchange Programs

 

International exchange programs at Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture offer transformative opportunities for students and faculty alike. These programs foster cross-cultural learning and collaboration, enhancing the educational experience by exposing participants to diverse architectural styles and practices.

Exchange students from BNCA should keep in mind that an important benefit of studying abroad is to experience a new educational system and to have the opportunity to take courses different from those taught at home.

Currently, students can apply for the following exchange programs:

  1. Milan Politecnico, Italy (2 Applications to be accepted)
  2. Udayana University, Bali (Minimum 5 applicants for organising exchange)
  3. Sookmyung Women’s University, Korea (5 Applications to be accepted)

Apart from this, numerous workshops and studios are organised in the year which are budget friendly and for shorter durations.

 

Eligibility

  1. Undergraduate B.Arch and M.Arch students would be eligible to apply for exchange programs.
    Applicants must be registered full-time B.Arch / M.Arch/B.Des in BNCA at the time of application and while on student exchange.
  2. Students should be in good academic and disciplinary standing and must NOT have any ‘Fail’ grades at the time of application.
  3. Applicants shall fulfill the language requirements set by the host universities.
    * For Australia, the IELTS exam score is mandatory
  4. Students must have basic knowledge of the country or region where they intend to study.
  5. HODs and Class teachers will be consulted before finalisation of candidates.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS AT BNCA BEGINS SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE EXCHANGE SEMESTER.

Interested candidates can EMAIL Prof. Shruti Joshi and the team, stating their interest to participate in the exchange Program, and send us a PDF of your B.Arch Marksheets, SOP and Portfolio of projects worked on till application date. The students nominated for each Exchange Program will be informed via email and then further instructions for the Exchange Program Application process will be shared.

Meet the Director of Icell & Team

Prof. Shruti Joshi

Prof. Shruti Joshi, has over 20 years of experience as architect, professor, mentor and director of International Cell. She has been instrumental in establishing several collaborations with universities abroad, creating numerous opportunities for BNCA students to get exposure at various platforms and interact with international students, faculty & professionals alike and creating a ‘home away from home’ experience at BNCA for international students and guests by making them feel welcome and enjoy their experience in India.

I feel that Architecture is a subject that cannot be learned just within the four walls of classroom. Learning through Global classrooms is the need of the time. BNCA is now emerging stronger than ever before, making a difference to the architectural education and earning international recognition.

These opportunities have truly boosted our students confidence and brought a maturity to their design thinking. It has not only helped our students with good exposure to the architectural scenario outside India but also strengthened the cultural ties, encouraging global fraternity.
