About the Speaker
Dhara Kabaria is the Partner and Principal Designer at Studio Alternatives, a design practice she founded in 2010. She is an alumnus of the School of Interior Design at CEPT, Ahmedabad, and holds a Postgraduate degree in 3-Dimensional Design from the Kent Institute of Art & Design, UK. Her special interests lie in furniture design, exhibition design, design education, and the alternate use of materials in design. She has also been involved in design education and various community projects. She aspires to practice her creativity and out of box thinking in creating remarkable solutions from waste. She has worked with a varied range of discarded materials such as packaging, thermocol, foil wrappers, glass bottles, tires, plastics, fabric, wood and metal, to name a few. To put it in a nutshell, her work with reclaimed materials, ranges right from coasters to large shipping containers.
