Anita Khandekar is a practicing Architect and Academician with an experience of over 30 yrs. A co founder of Khandekar Consultants, a Pune based Architecture, Urban Design & Planning Consultancy firm having its practice across Maharashtra and India. In her practice, she has developed a structured methodology in providing design solutions which are holistic in nature, environmentally sustainable and sensitive towards local surroundings. Her work encompasses a broad spectrum of Projects of various typologies in the government as well as private sectors. In her long standing association as an academician with various schools of Architecture in Pune she has contributed extensively to teaching the subject of Basic Design, Architectural Design & Urban Design. Presently she is an Associate Professor of Design at BNCA. She believes design thinking is inspirational and her areas of interest and concern include Public Spaces and City Structuring resulting in her active involvement in social architectural platforms and forums, which address such issues with urban local bodies for formulation of guidelines for infrastructure development at the city scale. Professional memberships include AESA, IIA, IUDI. Presently is also the Chairman of IUDI, Pune, Chapter.
