Organized by BNCA Research Hub (BRH)

Preamble:

India, with its rich traditions and rapidly changing urban environments, is at a significant crossroads. Amidst growing efforts to create sustainable and inclusive India, traditional knowledge and new technologies offer valuable opportunities to build a resilient future. Time-tested practices, grounded in local understanding, community living, and ecological awareness, provide sustainable solutions that are highly relevant today. At the same time, new technologies, digital solutions, material and design innovations create fresh opportunities for adaptation and change in built environment.

This national conference aims to bring together scholars, professionals, and students from diverse disciplines to engage in meaningful dialogue on the built environment and beyond. By encouraging collaboration across disciplines, the conference examines how combining heritage and innovation can strengthen the built environment and support holistic, inclusive and resilient development in India.

2024-National Conference on
Built Environment and Beyond 3.0: Challenges and Opportunities

February 28th (Fri) & March 1st (Sat) 2025 (Hybrid mode)

MKSSS's Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture, Pune
(Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University)
Organized by BNCA Research Hub (BRH)

Preamble:
The built environment plays a pivotal role in shaping our societies. It includes the physical spaces where we live, work, and play, that significantly influence our quality of life, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. The unprecedented challenges facing the built environment today – rapid urbanization, climate change, resource scarcity, and technological disruption – demand state-of-the-art solutions and transformative thinking.

The challenges that a city faces with the rising rate of expansion is to meet with demanding sustainable infrastructure to tolerate growth with minimum environmental damage with need of resilient designs that can resist extreme climate conditions. Nevertheless, there are widespread opportunities like technological advancements in AI, Parametricism that revolutionize approach of design, construct and manage built environments to create smarter, sustainable, inclusive user-centric spaces.

This conference, 3rd in the series, aims at contemplating the quality of built environments reflected through theory, practice and pedagogy. It establishes a growing need for interdisciplinary fields to collaborate with architecture to address current challenges of built environment at hand. The conference invites research papers from research scholars, academicians, professionals and students to address the complex issues of built environment.
